Pox Walkers- quick and dirty

Salutations, pals. I took a quick and dirty approach to razzing out some pox walkers. Well, it should've been quick anyway. In reality, I grabbed a bit of time here and there over a couple of months, and this is what came out of it.  Apologies for the egregious over-exposure from camera flash on the majoirty of these, but the lighting was terrible.  The first 4 were taken without flash, so the bits with gloss varnish in the mix, are less offensive. If I get round to it, I'll try for some better pictures soon...

Spot a guest appearance from Mol as a pox walker. I even managed to get his bionic arm and tentacles in there for added dynamic realism. Norf!

Ork kill team update: ammo runtz

In an effort to bring a small but drawn out project to a close, I opted to plough through a bunch of ammo runtz to round things out. Nowt sparkling, I'm afraid, but they'll do the job well enough.

One of these is straight out of the Nobz kit, the other 2 are kitbashed from gnoblar trappers with grot heads. Like the rest of the kill team, they've been mounted on Scibor resin bases.

Bonny Prince Billy: Ork Kill Team revisited...

A goodly while ago I started work on an Ork Kill Team with the old 4th ed rules in mind. As is usual for many of us, this turned out to be a project that got 60% completed and then forgotten about.

Over the last few days, I felt oddly compelled to paint up the remaining orks. For this post, I'll give you the notorious freebooter, Bonny Prince Billy.

I had the idea for Bonny Prince Billy quite some time ago.  I'd felt inspired to paint him up in a way that was influenced by (as well as by general piratical garb) C17th European aristocrats, with their tendency to cover up smallpox scarring with white powder make-up, and use spots of black velvet to cover particularly deep pock marks (yep, that's what those artificial beauty spots were all about). I also thought that this kind of stylistic ethos might fit quite well with the fashion whims amongst the aristocracy of the wider 40k era Imperium. So I've given this guy a very light shade of green overlaying his face to try and show this.  I did draw the line at giving him a fake beauty spot though. I dunno, though, maybe I should add one.

I haven't converted this model at all. It seemed to capture what I wanted already. He looks like he's striking a victorious pose for a portrait or some-such, which I thought was a suitably pompous look for a 'oomie imitating tough, roaming and looting on the galactic tides.

Other members of the team can be viewed at the links below:
Spag Bol
Dutch
Dokta Heimlich
Komrad Blenski
Silent
Gnasha

There is also another one known as Bacon Ear, but I think I neglected to blog about him. I'll look into it...

Terrain build for INQ28 / WH40K

Recently, myself and Wace picked up and split the Renegade boxed game recently released by Games Workshop, both wanting to have a Knight Titan each. After a £30 discount courtesy of Dark Sphere, this meant that we each had a Knight for a mere £45 each.

However, the box contained a building too. So, given that I have plenty of terrain at my place, and that the stuff at Wace's could do with bolstering, I volunteered to put something together, incorporating some parts I had left over from my own terrain builds.

I wanted this to be a bit ramshackle (which is lucky!), and to have a decent playable area, whilst not being totally run of the mill.  Judge for yourselves:

Beastman Psykers / Sorcerors for INQ28, 40K Renegades & Heretics, and Frostgrave

You may recall that some time ago I started work on a coven of renegade psykers for use in a proposed Renegades and Heretics army for 40K.  That whole wider idea has kinda been shelved for the moment (more likely indefinitely).

The most likely use for these two gnarled individuals will be in games of INQ28 / Inquisimunda, where they will no doubt be associates of Inquisitor Daubenton...

More recently, I was made aware of a relatively new game called Frostgrave. It's a small scale skirmish game where your force is led by a wizard and his/her apprentice.  That's the respective roles these chaps will play for Frostgrave if I ever get round to playing it.  The hardback rulebook itself is really nice and is available for around a tenner from places such as Amazon, but the full price is only something like £15, so I'd recommend supporting an actual games store if you fancy it.  The ruleset is really simple and dynamic. The other great thing about this game is that you can use suitable models from any range, and that all people in your warband set out with the same stats. You just recruit others that you feel would be suitable and pay for extra equipment from your store of gold. One Stevie Boxall of Corehammer fame has promised me an intro game at some point in a few weeks, so expect a bit of a warband to appear at some point.

Inquisitor Daubenton, the third iteration (an inquisitor warband update)

Following on from previous comments (much appreciated guidance from Frothing Muppet and Dai - cheers, fellers), I bring you the third and final (hopefully) incarnation of Inquisitor Ziegfried Daubenton.

Based on the comments I received, it was clear that he was missing a bit of something in terms of the grimdarkness that we all hold so dear. The pointing hand had to go. Luckily, I had a bit of a brainwave, and the requisite bitz in my box to bring what you see below to fruition. The replacement hand in particular fits well with the back story I have planned for him... more on that at a later point.
