Nurgle Soul Grinder finished

A while ago I posted some photos of this beast, which I'd based on the Araknarok kit.

Very basic conversion, which blocks up a few holes, adds a few green stuff cables and adds a few capering nurglings and an artillery piece in the mouth.  This was basically a tester piece for learning how to use tentacle makers.  I know I'm capable of better both in terms of the greenstuffing and the paint job, but I think it does the job.

I've better plans for another counts-as soul grinder of Nurgle which is based around a different kit...

This thing is huge

No idea why this looks so green

Or why this looks more grey than green

Heldrake conversions part 4

The long awaited 4th installment...

I'd not done anything on the heldrakes for a while as I'd been waiting on a Tentacle Maker from Green Stuff Industries (which actually arrived a few weeks back). Which of course, in true Tony of Nurgle style, I then left untouched for several weeks.  This is a) a great blog, and b) a great tool.  I'd highly recommend it. The only minor quibble is that the shipping to the UK is currently hella expensive, but the good news is, they are working on getting this tool stopped in indie stores in the UK (I've been asked by GSI if I know of any reliable outlets and recommended Element Games and Dark Sphere).

Anyway, long story short, last night's game got cancelled, so I thought I'd have a couple of beers and roll out some tentacle goodness (not a euphemism).  As you can no doubt tell, I've still got a fair way to go on this one. There's a lot of vacant space on this here Vargheist body that I will try and disguise by adding more cables. I do still want lots of gaps, but at the moment it's looking a little too "wasp-waisted" for my liking.

Heldrake conversions part 3

So I managed to get a bit more done on the heldrake conversions.  This mainly included building the remainder of the zombie dragon kit in terrorgheist form for the second heldrake.  I did do some further greenstuff work to the first one too.  And then promptly ran out of green stuff. Balls.

I have, however managed to order a 3 foot strip of green stuff. so hopefully will do a bit more this weekend!

Heldrake conversions part 1

I've been saving up bits and kits for a while now to try and make hopefully 2 Heldrakes.

Thus far, bits will be sorced from the Heldrake kit, the Vampire Counts Zombie Dragon / Terrorgheist, and the Dark Eldar Talos Pain Engine. No doubt with extra green stuff when it all goes horribly wrong...  Place your bets for when it all turns out that I've bitten off more than a large bear can chew.

I started out by looking at the sprues from all 3 kits to see what I had to play about with. I decided that I'd start out with the standard body assembly for the Heldrake.  See the captions for further notes...

Before adding the Heldrake tail piece I trimmed it down. I had other things in mind...

Other things being a couple of bits from the Talos for a longer tail

Bit of a dry fit (with blu-tak)

Seems to capture the desired effect thus far, so all good.

All glued in place. What will happen next?

Blight Drone completed

So here we have it.

The finished product.  I've not added a major amount to this since the last post. Mainly a bit of light touching up and the application of some Tamiya Clear Red to the wounds.

Once again, I'd emphasise how awesome this kit has been to work with  - I'd definitely do one of these again, but maybe try and push the modelling element a bit further.  I reckon starting over from scratch that I could definitely produce something more disgusting than this...

Blight Drone work in progress part 2

As a follow on to last week's post, here is some more work in progress.  I've been trying to spend a bit of time on this most days, with varying degrees of success...  Love this kit.

Really happy with the results so far.

Mainly, I've worked on:

1. the base for the model, which I've added some spare parts from the Cties of Death kits to, along with some Pegasus bricks, and some Army Painter tufts
2. some glazes and washes on the slug part of the body
3. Gluing the kit together.

This work has been carried out with the audio assistance of the Lawrence Arms, the Doughboys, Samiam, Suicidal Tendencies, Mega City Four and Dillinger Four.
