Death Guard Terminator #2

Ages and ages ago, I did a bit of a kit bash of Death Guard terminator, affectionately known as Malarius, Thrice Blessed by Nurgle.

It seems that I also spent some time putting together more terminators using the Forge World upgrade kit to make some Death Guard terminators. And obviously, me being me, I put them aside for ages.

Well, this past week, I actually managed to paint one. Bit by bit.  It was a bit of a strange experience, as I was returning to my Death Guard scheme, and I hadn't painted that particular scheme for a good few months. I'm reasonably happy with the outcome, and I'm pleased I've not tried to take any short-cuts or owt.

As you can see from the pictures, I've given this fine young gentleman a massive gnarly claw.  Not entirely sure where it came from, asides from it being a gift from my good friend Fulgrim's bits box. It looks possibly as if it might be from some sort of incarnation of the Keeper of Secrets or some other large Slaaneshi model. Regardless of whence it came, it certainly seems to have worked out well, and doesn't seem out of place on the model.

So here are the pictures...

Life's not hard, you're just soft.

Those truly blessed by chaos always bestride channels of
toxic slurry.

Hopefully the rust has come through well on the bolter. I get the
feeling that from time to time, I may have overdone the rust
effects on some of the Death Guard models I've painted.

The amount of texture on these Forge World parts
is unbelievable. If I was better at painting, I'd try
and do it more justice!

I'm toying with the idea of trying to make the wings of the fly iridescent. I'd
hopefully achieve that using the Vallejo metal medium.

Ever wondered what it would be like to have a massive purple eye for a belt
buckle? Me neither.

Here he is, with his old mucker, Malarius.

First try at airbrushing

My wonderful wife got me an airbrush / compressor kit for my birthday the other week. She's right good like that. And for this amongst other things, I love her dearly.

So after reading up about what to do and what not to do, I thought it was time to break some rules. Let the good times roll...

...well, anyway, I decided to start off with some simple stuff. Writing words on a box.

Before moving on to spraying a building. Which can be seen atop the box.

I then invited Damien Hirst and Banksy round, who described this a work of "great maturity" and that showed "vision" of an "exceptional depth".

It's my face. In a mask.

It's my hand. In a glove. Holding an airbrush.

I then proceeded to undercoat my Death Guard rhino and my Death Guard terminators.

More to follow on them soon.

Tomorrow, I need to solve 1000 points worth of "the green skin problem" on Avignon Primaris, but later in the week, I'm intending on getting a fair amount of the other stuff I've been building over the past few months primed.

Thanks for reading this fairly pointless update.

Death Guard out on Manoeuvres

Just a bit of fun on the kitchen table.

I occasionally like to see what stuff might look like on the tabletop. Yes I am that lame.

Death Guard terminator finished

As I said yesterday, this would be finished today. Here he is.

Death Guard Terminators assembled

Yes, indeed, I have finally constructed my Death Guard terminators.

All hail the Rotten Lord and such claptrap.

I've used the plastic Chaos Terminator kit (although I did remove some of the rubbishier looking spiky bits) as the basis for these, with the addition of the Forge World Death Guard Terminators upgrade kit.

I've made some attempts at weathering and scarifying the armour plates using a drill.  I also gave one of them some kind of mental gribbly claw arm that I found in the local games club bits box.  It's a metal piece, and it's old. That's all I know. I swear.

The bases are from Forgecraft.

Here are some pictures.
He's got a crab's hand

Oh yes he does.

Strange appendage...

...waving in the breeze.
