INQ28 - Ecclesiarchy Priest

All has been quiet on the blogging front recently, I'm afraid. I've just not been up to that much hobby-wise, apart from a trip to Nottingham to visit my good buddy Fulgrim, who was heavily involved in the play-testing and design of the recent Death Watch: Overkill game. So we obviously spent a chunk of time playing that. And drinking. And eating. And watching Star Wars.  Good times, yo.

I did finish up this fellow, who will be a part of my Ordo Hereticus retinue, in the role of... priest / preacher / general ecclesiarchy God-Emperor bothering busy body.  The model is from Black Scorpion's range of Cutlass models, and was part of a very bargainous set I picked up at Salute last year.

Here he is. Sweet beard, dude.

INQ28: Ordo Hereticus savant / scribe

Introducing Himanshu Gallapathie, chief scribe and savant to Inquisitor Ganesha Singh, of the Ordo Hereticus.

This model is from the Black Scorpion range of models for Cutlass.

Today I am a man of few words.

Inquisitor Ganesha Singh of the Ordo Hereticus

A goodly while back, you may remember that I posted up this model unpainted. For those that are interested, you can see it here.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been adding a bit of paint here and there on an almost daily basis, and this is what I've ended up with. Although the company producing the core miniature here is basically morally bankrupt and has seemingly ripped off a load of FWs Horus Heresy sculpts (I will name no company names here), this particular sculpt I felt was too good to pass up, and didn't seem to be a direct rip of any GW or FW stuff I was aware of, although the influence is clear. I also really like the wimple aspect of this model, which seems to communicate a high degree of piety when cross-referenced with the attire favoured by nuns in the Catholic church of recent centuries.

I decided to get rid of the small child that accompanies the original model, and replace her with a nice big wolf hound form the GW Orion King of The Woods kit. Obviously, I had to give him a bionic eye and a minor cybernetic enhancement to make him a bit more future-appropriate.

I decided that I would continue the theme of dark skin tones and white armour with golden / brassy trim I started with on the Adepta Sororitas Novitiates, of which I have also included a group shot.

Coming soon to bring puritanical justice to a dark corner of the Imperium near you...

Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor & Wolfhound

Over the last week or two, I've steadily been working away at this representative of the Ordo Hereticus.  I bought the base model on a whim.  It's from the http://wargameexclusive.com/ web store.  On taking it out of the packet and blue-tacking it together, I thought she could easily be accompanied by a hound of some kind on a chain.  After an abortive attempt to attach her to a Fenrisian wolf (far far too massive), I opted for one of these wolfhounds from the Orion King in the Woods model.

The casual, menacing prowling motion seemed to fit well with the Inquisitors strolling pose. I think they turned out well as a pair. It's also the first double-basing I've attempted.

C&C welcome as ever.

Inquisitor war band update

Life's been kind of hectic recently, but I have managed to squeeze in a bit of time at my hobby table.

About all I've managed to do is paint up a henchman type character, who is carrying a sniper rifle, and to put together a minor conversion based around the Tech Priest Dominus clam pack character (or whatever it's called).

Not really too much to say on the sniper rifle toting fellow, apart from I gave him a red mask. Not really sure why, but he reminded me in some ways of the Red Skull villainous character from the Captain America comics. I think maybe the way the mask lay against the top of his head? It's not really too important though.

The conversion was kind of fun.  I did away with the walking stick as I didn't really like it, and it seemed a bit unnecessary. The model is being ambulated by a series of mechanical legs, after all! I also got rid of the pointy finger on the pole-axe holding hand.Once again, I didn't like it.  The axe had itself didn't feel quite right to me either. After a bit of rooting through my bitz box, and a good think, I came up with an idea for him to be carrying a pole-mounted loud speaker. The thought behind this is that it would broadcast binary transmissions, either in the form of commands and/or a call of the faithful to prayer (kind of inspired by the call to prayer you hear several times a day if you live near a Mosque).  I'll leave it to the reader to decide whether or not this idea works...

Inquisitor war band update: Daemonhost #2 & 40,000 views!

It's been a busy couple of months all in all, with many ups and downs, including a trip to America for a couple of weeks (which was a definite up!!), and a shitty return to work and bad news (a definite down). However, I have managed to get another model finished since I've been back...

Remember this character? I finally got around to painting him up.  I think he looks quite different painted up than he did as bare plastic - more threatening, perhaps?

I had a bit of fun with glazes and washes etc. Please excuse my amateurish attempts at freehand, though!

And I almost forgot - I hit 40,000 views today. Grimdark, yo!

Inquisitor war band update - henchman #1 & new conversions

After finding it a little tricky to get some work table time in over the last couple of weeks, I finally managed to have a good session on Sunday afternoon.

I managed to get a henchman painted, as well as finishing conversion work on my 'blunter', Methuselah (based on a Black Scorpion miniatures pirate child with an Ungor head), and my rogue trader, Lady Dremelza Halifax (based on Isabella von Carstein, with some fancy xenos gadgetry).  I'll also add into this a non-converted model, who will act as a scribe (another Black Scorpion sculpt that I thought fit in quite perfectly).

Story-wise, the henchman will be one of Lady Dremelza's bodyguards, just some gritty dude. I thought the flintlocks added a suitable naval element to him. With the leather jacket and bandana, I wanted to create an impression of a wannabe Han Solo type meets old-skool Suicidal Tendencies fan kind of vibe.

I've given Lady Halifax an unusual mark of Eldar pistol, which I've re-modelled to resemble a futuristic flintlock (see the shape of stock/grip of the weapon and compare it to the henchman's). It was fiddly.  The blade she carries will have a bit of story behind it.

As for Methuselah, I gave a bit of vague story to him as part of the Inquisitor Daubenton ramblings I've been posting up. In case you can't be arsed to backtrack through the blog, he's basically a Pariah, as well as an abhuman, and to cap it all, he also exhibits Dwarfism (which is in no way intended to be offensive to anyone - it's just how I thought the character needed to be built as soon as I saw the model it's based around). He's also strapped with a flintlock.

The scribe, well, is just a typical busy-body bookish know-it-all repository of useless / useful information.
