Soul Grinder of Nurgle / Dark Mechanicum Iron Strider

Good day to you all.

Wow. That was formal.

Not too much to say on this one, but a goodly while ago, I got hold of a Maggoth Lord second hand from Linguiformean (Lee).  It kind of sat around partially on the sprue for a while, partially off.

I eventually, started taking a closer look at it and put it together apart from the rider, which is when i hit on the idea of seeing if the top half of one of those Kataprhon servitors would fit in the hole. Turn out with a minimal amount of sanding down, it will indeed fit. Quite well as it turns out.

Add in a few green stuff cables, and Bob, as they allegedly say, is your weird and pervy uncle.

Inquisitor war band update: Floki Olafsson, the Arsonist

This here is Floki Olafsson. He's based around a Black Scorpion miniatures model, with a couple of simple modifications to "40K" him up.

Little is known about Olafsson before he joined the retinue of Inquisitor Daubenton. He is also a member of Lady Halifax's crew on the Rogue Trader ship Pride of Croydius, and on occasion is known to escort Lady Halifax as part of her personal retinue. He's a busy kind of bloke.

Rumours surround Olafsson.  Chiefly, it is said (around the secret circles of moonshine drinkers in the sub-enginarum decks) that he originates from Fenris. And lo, that he was selected by the mighty warriors of the Vlka Fenryka to become an Astartes through the various trials and traditions of that cold world. Alas, the implantation of the Progenoid glands did not take, and his body rejected them.

For a time, it is said that he inhabited the Fang and served in the humiliating (for him) role of a chapter serf, although it is said this is a great honour, the shame must have been nigh-unbearable.

It is not known how he came in to the service of Inquisitor Daubenton and Lady Halifax. However, this service seems to have done him the world of good, as he feels able to take an active role in smiting the enemies of the Emperor with blade and cleansing flame. Indeed, he has developed something of an obsession with fire.

Inquisitor war band update - henchman #1 & new conversions

After finding it a little tricky to get some work table time in over the last couple of weeks, I finally managed to have a good session on Sunday afternoon.

I managed to get a henchman painted, as well as finishing conversion work on my 'blunter', Methuselah (based on a Black Scorpion miniatures pirate child with an Ungor head), and my rogue trader, Lady Dremelza Halifax (based on Isabella von Carstein, with some fancy xenos gadgetry).  I'll also add into this a non-converted model, who will act as a scribe (another Black Scorpion sculpt that I thought fit in quite perfectly).

Story-wise, the henchman will be one of Lady Dremelza's bodyguards, just some gritty dude. I thought the flintlocks added a suitable naval element to him. With the leather jacket and bandana, I wanted to create an impression of a wannabe Han Solo type meets old-skool Suicidal Tendencies fan kind of vibe.

I've given Lady Halifax an unusual mark of Eldar pistol, which I've re-modelled to resemble a futuristic flintlock (see the shape of stock/grip of the weapon and compare it to the henchman's). It was fiddly.  The blade she carries will have a bit of story behind it.

As for Methuselah, I gave a bit of vague story to him as part of the Inquisitor Daubenton ramblings I've been posting up. In case you can't be arsed to backtrack through the blog, he's basically a Pariah, as well as an abhuman, and to cap it all, he also exhibits Dwarfism (which is in no way intended to be offensive to anyone - it's just how I thought the character needed to be built as soon as I saw the model it's based around). He's also strapped with a flintlock.

The scribe, well, is just a typical busy-body bookish know-it-all repository of useless / useful information.

Inquisitor Daubenton & the Psyber Falcon keeper revisited

Following on from some earlier posts, I've revisited a couple of models and made some modifications, which you can see below.

Chiefly, this has involved straightening the falcon, which a couple of people rightly pointed out as "listing" slightly, and amending the pose and accessories on Inquisitor Daubenton himself.

The original version of Inquisitor Daubenton can be found here and the Psyber Falcon Keeper can be found here.

I'm hoping that these are now much improved...

Inquisitor war band update - Death Cult Assassins

I've been a little busy. These Death Cult Assassins were trickier than they look to put together.

I'll stress that they are a bit of a first attempt, but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and have plans for some different versions.

Inquisitorial war band update: Servitors part 2 (WIP)

Following on from t'other day, I've been hard at work attempting to create another servitor, and making some further minor amendments to the first one.

Once again the second servitor is based around a Putrid Blight King body, another steel nut I found laying about, some space marine heavy weapon bits and a maxmini.eu 'biohazard' back pack. I've rounded this out with some green stuff pipes made using the Green Stuff Industries tentacle maker tool (a wise investment).

This second servitor proved to be much trickier than the first one, as I wasn't as sure what exactly I was aiming for...

I'll start out with some shots of the early stages, and follow on with some shots of the almost finished conversion.
