The Lazarine, Daemon Prince of Nurgle

Quite some time ago (obviously this will be at least 2 years since - usual Tony of Nurgle standard practice), I picked up the fantastic Old Death model produced by Enigma Miniatures with the intention of making it into a Daemon Prince of Nurgle.

I really like how the static pose of the creature implies loitering in the background (waiting escort the damned to Hades or some-such), while the wind swept robe adds a nice sense of movement. If he was a bit taller I'd maybe think of him as Mortarion as Daemon Prince. Perhaps it would be a more accurate reflection of a Grave Warden elevated to daemonhood.  Either way, I think he adds a nice touch of visual variety to my mono-Nurgle daemon army...  I've named him the Lazarine after a form of "spotted leprosy".

Daemon Prince of Nurgle

Love this model - it's great. Got to say though, I wish they'd done it in resin.

Spent a good chunk of the evenings in the last week working on this.

The idea is for it to fit in with the scheme I'd worked up on my Plaguebearers, going for a bruised, decomposing look.

Lots of nice, unpleasant detail to be found on this model.

Hopefully, they will collectively take to the tabletop as allies for my Death Guard / Word Bearers.

Who was it that ate all the pies again?

None of us have the right to complain of a bad back after seeing this...

There's a horrible little imp pushing it's way out of it's bum.

The Battle for Avignon Primaris (part #237)

T'other day, I met up with Chris for a pre-Xmas game of 40k. Fairly small scale. 1250 points of my Death Guard & Word Bearers chaos marines vs his Snakebite orks. It was a great bit of fun.

Here's some pictures of what went down on the mean streets of Avignon Primaris...

Two boar trukkz careen down the streets of Avignon
Primaris

I love these trukk conversions - great fun!

A squad of Death Guard marines discover "nothing of note" for 3 Victory
points in the shell of a bombed out building.

In what is now a traditional face off in our games, my
Possessed brace themselves to face off against a trukk-
load of Ork Nobz and accompanyin Pain Boy.

Another squad of Death Guard marines shelter by an abandoned
Bane Blade.

The Pig Mek's Cyboar Riderz roar through the wreckage of a downed
Valkyrie. Unfortunately, several of their number fail dangerous terrain
tests while attempting "jumpy trickz".

Captured by servo-skull, here we see a Death Guard squad guarding a Grav
Generator for 3 Victory points.

Euphraxes, Word Bearers exalted Lord of Chaos advances, supported by
a squad of Word Bearers marines and two chaos spawn.

The Possessed champion has been forced into
throwing out a challenge to Ork Nob, 'Ard Barry.
Alas, neither his power armour or invulnerable
save were up to the task of surviving a blow from
'Ard Barry's Power Claw.

The Fly Blown, Daemon Prince of Nurgle (until I think up a better name) and
the possessed mix it up with some Orks and a Pain Boy. Check out his witch-
doctor mask and 'urty needle.

Euphraxes challenges the leader of the Cyboar unit to single combat. Unfortunately this "puny beaky"
swiftly ended matters in a rather decisive manner, earning multiple Boons from the Chaos Boons table.

Death Guard out on Manoeuvres

Just a bit of fun on the kitchen table.

I occasionally like to see what stuff might look like on the tabletop. Yes I am that lame.

Death Guard Daemon Prince test piece finished

Bloomin' 'eck.  I've not posted for ages.

Weddings, visiting folk, drinking ale, drinking wine and whatnot. Not much time for painting or anything. Lame.

Well, I did manage to finish off my daemon prince test piece for the Death Guard. Which I'm sure people will be overly relieved about, as they won't have to look at any more boring W.I.P shots of it.

When I say it's finished, I mean it's finished to the point that I know I can do what I want with the finecast version and it should look good. I'll spend more time on that one, as the face should be more defined.

Anyways. I'm prattlin' again.

I've used a bit of thinned out Devlan Mud (so glad I stocked up on that shit) to wash the flesh, and given it a last bit of a highlight with a mix of Vallejo off white / Formula P3 Thrall Flesh. I quite like the finish I've got.

Here's some more badly shot photographs:
Bit blurry, but I think the colour comes through nice
another picture of a miniature on a lunch box.

Nurgle Daemon Prince W.I.P part 3

So it seems I could be arsed to post these on the same very day.

The flesh has been roughly touched up with a blend of thinned out Vallejo off white & Formula P3 Thrall Flesh.

The green parts of the armour have been given a rough highlight of the mix above with added Knarloc green.

I'll be washing the miniature some more tomorrow...
